The title, “hanabi,” literally means “flowers of fire” (i.e. “fireworks.”) Asian etymologies are neat.

Last night, I watched the fireworks over Lake Union from my own apartment. I ended up having a completely unobstructed view from my futon.

I shot a few pictures of the show. They turned out a little interesting due to my cheap shaky tripod and the fact that I was shooting through the screen in my window, but they’re kind of neat:
