Circuitry

One of the old computers in my collection is an original Macintosh, back from 1984. Unfortunately, it’s nonfunctional and won’t start up due to a bad power supply/high voltage board. I picked up an old, relatively beat-up Mac SE (slightly newer than the original Mac, but still sharing the same general design and a lot of the same components on the analog board) intending to cannibalize it for parts to repair the original Mac.

This summer I finally got around to pulling the case off of it and taking out the analog board so that I could start repairing the old Mac.

(Note that this is on the more technical side of the articles I usually post here. Some of my readers will appreciate the technical details, some will enjoy just looking at the cool pictures of computer hardware, and some may just want to skip this one.)

Fireworks at Gasworks

Even this summer I’ve been bad at posting photos and have accumulated a bit of a backlog. These are a few snapshots that I took of the fireworks display over Lake Union on Independence Day this year.

I didn’t want to spend too much time watching the show through a camera viewfinder, so I didn’t get anything too spectacular. But these are some of my better shots and some of them are decent enough.

There are more photos after the jump. (I’m going to start publishing only a few photos from each entry on the main page, and then you can click the “read more” link to read the rest of each post. This should make the front page load a lot faster.)
